In August I made this syrreal fire sculpture together with Janek Samberg for Hingefestival (Soul Festival) at Saaremaa, which was such a cool and fascinating experience. I will definitely make more of these in the future 🙏
We started to vision and build it on a weekend at the organizers place near Tallinn. Janek was ment to help me but in the process it developed more like us being both equal artists in contributing with ideas and visions.
There was a big pile of driftwood they had gathered previous years and some of the pieces were still screwed together for earlier sculptures. At first it felt pretty confusing to make some idea out of it
But at some point we had gotten to this:
But we still needed to get it to the island of Saaremaa and continue building/fine tuning it there.
The crew took it there and we arrived at the festival area by bike. We had four days to put it back together and finish it.
The amazing venue was Nässuma Holiday Centre, Pulga Farm. It was a beautiful complex, but with the preparations for the festival, it became even more and more high vibrational and magical. Indrek Nõgu was trimming a huge flower of life and a unicursal labyrinth into the hay field and our fire sculpture was to be right between them. So the whole time we walked around the labyrinth and later everyone put their tents on the area of the flower 🌺 It was especially mysterious to move around the labyrinths in the dark – the nature, the sculpture and it was also full moon. 🌕✨
I painted similar motives on a round board and attached it into the heart of the sculpture.
The festival was heartwarming and inspiring, I also made a croquis drawing workshop there.
Janek had also made three creatures from the drift wood which I added some paintings, they’re job was to welcome people to the labyrinth area.
The ceremony with burning the sculpture was set on the third day, and it’ s definitely one of the most syrreal and mindblowing experiences I´ve ever had.
The firedancer is Karina Valuya. I will post videos about this also soon.
To be a part of something like this is such an undescribable feeling 🔥
Huge thanks to everyone who helped to create this magic! ✨
